How to Write Luna in Cursive
Your name in school cursive with the capital, the joins and the tricky spots explained, plus a printable practice sheet.

Luna is four letters with no tall loops after the capital and no descenders at all, so it is compact and even. The capital L is a looped, curving letter that connects. The u and n are both made of the same strokes, so the middle of the name is a rhythm of two short, similar shapes before the final a closes it.

Each distinct letter in "Luna" has its own stroke-by-stroke page.
The joins in Luna
- Lu: The L's exit at the baseline rises directly into the u's first stroke. Keep it short and let the u begin as a sharp upstroke, so the capital and the first small letter don't leave a gap.
- un: The u ends with a downstroke and a short exit, and the n begins with an overcurve, so the exit must roll over the top. Keep the u's two strokes parallel and the n's two humps even.
- na: After the n's second hump, the undercurve exit leads into the a's oval. Close the a at the top and end with a short exit, or a small curl for a signature.
Tricky spots
- u vs n: In cursive the u has pointed tops and the n has rounded humps. Keep the points sharp on the u and the humps smooth on the n, or Luna can read as Lnna.
- The capital L loops: The L has a loop at the top and sometimes at the bottom. Keep the top loop small and the stem on the slant, or the capital becomes a plain 2 shape.
- Closing the a: The final a must be closed at the top. An open a at the end reads as u, and Lunu would be an easy misreading.
The capital L
Cursive capital L is a curving stroke that starts with a loop at the top, sweeps down and finishes in a small loop at the baseline, then exits to the right, so it connects to the u. Keep the loop at the base small, and the capital about twice the lowercase height.
Luna as a signature
A short name leaves room for a large flourish. The capital L has a natural loop that can be stretched into a long entry or a low sweep, and the final a can end with a curl or an underline. Keep the u's points and the n's humps clear, since they are the identifiers in a four-letter name.
Short forms of Luna
Luna is usually written in full. Lu is occasionally used as a short form, which is just a capital L and a u, a very small two-letter mark.
As a tattoo
Luna is short, so it can be written large and elegantly, with the L's loops clean. Keep at least 8 mm x-height so the u and n stay distinct, and check the L's loops on the stencil. It is a natural fit for a wrist, a finger edge or beneath a small design.

Copy-paste versions of Luna
Copy-paste Luna in script is ℒ𝓊𝓃𝒶 and in bold script is 𝓛𝓾𝓷𝓪. Luna gets one borrowed letter: the capital ℒ (U+2112), with u, n and a drawn from the main script block. It is a short four-letter string, so it fits almost any display-name field. If you want the whole thing in a single block, bold script has no borrowed letters.
