The joins in Lily
- Li: The L curl rises into a short i. Exit at the baseline.
- il: The i rises into the tall l loop. Keep the loop narrow.
- ly: The l exits at the baseline into the y, which starts with an overcurve and drops a loop below the baseline.
Tricky spots
- The i dot: Add the dot after the name is finished.
- The y loop: Keep it narrow and closed at the baseline.
The capital L
Capital L is a looped stroke ending with a curl at the baseline, and it connects into the i. Make the loop generous and keep the curl short.
Lily as a signature
A large L and a swooping y make a pleasing signature. The i dot can become a small circle or heart, if you like. Keep the y tail visible.
Short forms of Lily
Lily is already short and has no common shorter form.
As a tattoo
The y loop needs room below the line, and the i dot should be distinct from the l. A smaller tattoo works well because the name is short.

Copy-paste versions of Lily
Script ℒ𝒾𝓁𝓎 and bold script 𝓛𝓲𝓵𝔂 are generated by code from the Unicode mathematical script blocks, so you can paste either one anywhere that accepts Unicode text. Lily has a single borrowed character, the capital ℒ (U+2112), and the two lowercase letters l and y are ordinary script code points. Since the capital stands alone at the front, some apps draw it slightly larger or smaller than the rest. Use the bold script version if you want every glyph from one block.
