Key facts
- Brawl Stars player names must be 2 to 15 characters long, according to Supercell Support, and symbols and frames count toward that total.
- Supercell recommends against emoji, special characters such as &, % and $, and non-Latin letters in a Brawl Stars name, because they may not display or may make the name invisible.
- Styled Unicode letters are not plain Latin letters, so they carry the same display risk in Brawl Stars that Supercell describes for non-Latin letters.
- A Brawl Stars name change is free the first time, then costs 60, 90 and 120 gems, then 150 gems from the fifth change on, with a 3-day wait between changes (Supercell Support).
- Brackets or other frames can use up to a third of the 15-character Brawl Stars name limit, so keep styled names compact.
- Small caps and bold sans stay closest to normal letterforms, which makes them the most readable Brawl Stars name styles on a small phone screen.

Limit: 15 chars
2–15 characters (Supercell Support). Supercell recommends against emoji, special characters such as &, % and $, and non-Latin letters, because they may not display or may make the name invisible. Styled Unicode letters are not plain Latin letters, so they carry the same risk.
- Name change costNo
First change free, then 60, 90 and 120 gems, then 150 gems for the fifth and every later change, with a 3-day wait between changes (Supercell Support).
- Club name and descriptionPartly
Club fields are separate text boxes with their own limits, which we have not verified. Test styled text there before sharing a club invite.
- Supercell ID and socialsYes
Your display name on Discord, YouTube or Twitch can be fully styled, which is a safer place for the decorative version of your Brawl Stars name.
This Brawl Stars name style generator turns your player name into small caps, bold sans and other Unicode styles you can copy, and shows how much of the 15-character limit each uses. It is for players who want a styled name and need to know Supercell’s rules before paying gems to rename.
The short version of the rules
Brawl Stars asks for a short player name: 2 to 15 characters, according to Supercell’s support page. The same page warns that emoji, special characters such as &, % and $, and non-Latin letters may not display or may make your name invisible, so fancy text is a gamble here. Supercell does not publish a list of characters that are safe, so the rename screen and a friend’s phone are the real test.
Because the limit is short, the style you choose matters more than on other platforms. A decorative frame such as brackets can use up to a third of the available space, so styled names need to be compact.
| Part | What we know | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Player name length | 2–15 characters | Supercell Support |
| Rename cost | First change free, then 60, 90, 120, then 150 gems each time; 3 days between changes | Supercell Support |
| Symbols and styled letters | Supercell recommends against emoji, special characters and non-Latin letters | Supercell Support |
| Club name | Separate field with its own limits | Not verified |
Choosing a style that survives a small screen
Brawl Stars is played on phones, at speed, so names appear small. The most reliable styles are the ones that stay close to normal letterforms:
- Small caps: compact, readable and fits the 15-character limit well.
- Bold sans: thick strokes show up on small displays.
- Superscript: tiny; use it for a short tag, not your whole name.
- Monospace: a clean typewriter look.
- Black squares: eye-catching but uppercase only and some letters may show in colour.
- Gothic: looks cool in large sizes, but is dense on a phone.
Rank these by readability, not by how they look in the preview. A name your friends cannot read is a name they cannot invite.
Making the name fit
Count characters before you commit. A name with brackets, two symbols and a word is already near the limit. Some ways to cut length:
- Use a single short word rather than two.
- Drop the frame: brackets and stars cost two characters each.
- Choose one symbol instead of three.
- Abbreviate a long name rather than truncating it, because a cut-off name looks like a mistake.
If you are not sure how many characters a style uses, remember that most Unicode letters count as one character each in a text box, but a few symbols use more space behind the scenes. Test the final name in the box before you buy any rename.
What happens in clubs, chat and friend lists
Your name appears in several places: the lobby, the results screen, friend lists and club chat. Each may use a slightly different font size. A name that looks fine in the lobby can be clipped in a narrow list. Look at the name on a small phone, and ask a friend to check it on theirs. The valorant name style and Mobile Legends name style pages have similar advice for other mobile and PC titles.
Keep a plain-text fallback
Teammates who want to add you will often type your name into a search box. If your name is made of styled letters, a plain search may not find it. A name with a plain core, for example “Shadow” plus a styled symbol, is much easier to find than a fully styled one. If you want to be searchable, consider keeping your name in plain letters and putting the decoration in your club tag or social profiles.
Accessibility and fairness
Players who use screen readers or who have trouble distinguishing unusual characters may not be able to read a heavily styled name. Keep it moderate, avoid extreme glitch or stacked-mark styles, and never use styling to imitate another player’s name. Impersonation can violate the game’s rules and is also unkind. The game may remove names it considers offensive or misleading.

A few naming patterns that fit 15 characters
Short names carry the most style. Some patterns that fit comfortably: one word with a capital in the middle, such as “ShadowFox”; a word and a number; or a short word with a single symbol. Aim for ten or fewer characters if you want room for a decorative mark, and keep the first letters distinctive, because lists often show only the start of a name.
Before you pay for a rename, write three candidates in a notes app, view each at phone size and ask a friend which is easiest to read. The cheapest rename is the one you never need.
Finally, check the name on both a small and a large screen. Tablets and phones scale text differently, and a name that looks sharp on a tablet can look cramped on a phone.
Pick a style with the brawl stars name style generator, check it at phone size, and keep a plain version of the name for friends who search for you.
