Key facts
- Pinterest board names are limited to 50 characters according to third-party references, and styled letters and symbols display.
- Pinterest pin titles allow 100 characters according to third-party references, with roughly the first 40 visible in feeds.
- Pinterest pin descriptions allow 500 characters according to third-party references, with the first 50 to 60 showing on a mobile close-up.
- Pinterest matches search words against titles, descriptions and board names, so styled letters may stop matching plain-text searches (our inference, not a Pinterest statement).
- We found no official limit for the Pinterest profile name or About field, so check the live counter in the editor.
Where fancy letters work on Pinterest
Each Pinterest profile field has its own rules. Open Compatibility & details on any style above to see whether your text fits.
- Board nameYes
Limit: 50 chars
Third-party references give 50 characters. Styled letters and symbols display, but long names may be shortened on small screens.
- Pin titlePartly
Limit: 100 chars
Third-party references give 100 characters, with roughly the first 40 visible in feeds. Titles feed Pinterest search, so styled letters may stop matching plain-text searches (our inference, not a Pinterest statement).
- Pin descriptionPartly
Limit: 500 chars
Third-party references give 500 characters, with the first 50 to 60 showing on a mobile close-up. Keep keywords in plain text and style only a short heading.
- Profile name and AboutYes
Free-text profile fields accept Unicode styles, but we could not find an official limit for either, so check the live counter in the editor.

These Pinterest fonts turn board names, pin titles and descriptions into styled Unicode letters that you copy and paste into Pinterest. Because Pinterest is a search engine, the page shows where styled text is safe, where plain keywords matter more, and when a real font in the pin image is the better choice.
How to use Pinterest fonts
- Type or paste your text in the box at the top. Every style updates as you type.
- Pick a style. Small caps and script suit a board name; keep pin titles mostly plain.
- Tap Copy on the row you like, then paste it into your board name, pin title or description.
Where fancy text makes sense on Pinterest
Pinterest is a search engine as much as a social network. People type words into the search bar, and Pinterest matches them against titles, descriptions and board names. That makes the question for each field not “does it display?” but “does it need to be found?”.
| Field | Needs to be found | Styled Unicode |
|---|---|---|
| Board name | Sometimes | Short flourishes are fine; keep one plain keyword |
| Pin title | Yes | Keep it plain, or style one word |
| Pin description | Yes | Plain keywords, optional styled heading |
| Profile name and About | Mostly by name | Fine, if a plain name is in there too |
| Text inside the pin image | No | Use real fonts instead |
Pinterest has not published how its search treats styled letters. What we know is how Unicode works: 𝓬𝓸𝔃𝔂 is a different set of characters from “cozy”, so a system that matches words character by character will not treat them as the same word. That is an inference from how Unicode styles behave, not a statement from Pinterest, so test with your own searches before you restyle a whole account.
The limits
The figures below come from third-party references, since Pinterest’s own help pages did not load for this check. They agree with each other, and the character counter in the editor settles any doubt.
| Field | Reported limit | What shows without tapping |
|---|---|---|
| Board name | 50 | Not published; long names are shortened on small screens |
| Pin title | 100 | About the first 40 in feeds, per third-party sources |
| Pin description | 500 | About the first 50 to 60 on a mobile close-up |
Styled characters usually count as one each in a counter, but some symbols are two code units behind the scenes. Leave a few characters of headroom rather than writing to the exact limit.
Board names
Board names are the best fit for styled text, because a board name is short and a viewer sees it as a label. Examples that keep a plain keyword:
- 𝓒𝓸𝔃𝔂 𝓜𝓸𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 · slow breakfast ideas
- ✦ garden notes ✦ small balcony plants
- ʟɪɢʜᴛ ᴀɴᴅ ᴀɪʀʏ · bedroom decor
The part after the dot is plain and searchable. The part before it is decoration. If you want a board to match what people search for, write the plain version first and add the style after it.
To rename a board, open it, choose the edit option and change the name. Third-party guides say it is free and leaves pins and followers untouched. A board’s web address is built from its name, so an old link in a bio, blog post or email may stop matching afterward.
Pin titles and descriptions
For pins that should be found, write the title the way someone would search: plain words, most important first. If you want a styled touch, put it in a divider or a first word:

Descriptions are different from titles in one useful way: they are long enough to hold both. Start with plain keywords in a normal sentence, and use a styled heading or bullet symbols below it for the structure. The first line or two are what show before someone taps, so that is where the plain keywords go.
Avoid long styled paragraphs. They are harder to read, they may not display for some viewers, and screen readers can read them letter by letter. The fancy text accessibility guide lists the details.
Text on the pin image
Most “Pinterest fonts” searches are really about the lettering you see on pins: big script titles over a photo. Those are image text, designed in an editor with real fonts, not Unicode. The lettering image maker renders text in script and display typefaces and exports a PNG. For the written title beside it, use plain words that describe the image.
Real fonts are the better choice for image text because they give you full control of size, spacing and color and they never turn into boxes. Unicode styles belong in the editable text fields.
Styles that suit Pinterest
| Style | Example | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Bold cursive | 𝓒𝓸𝔃𝔂 𝓜𝓸𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 | Board names, wedding and home themes |
| Small caps | ᴄᴏᴢʏ ᴍᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱ | Calm labels and section headings |
| Bold serif | 𝐂𝐨𝐳𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 | Pin headings that need weight |
| Italic serif | 𝐶𝑜𝑧𝑦 𝑀𝑜𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 | Soft emphasis for one word |
| Vaporwave | cozy mornings | Retro and lofi aesthetic boards |
The aesthetic fonts and cute fonts pages have more options in the same moods, and the cursive text generator covers the script styles. The text decorator adds frames and dividers such as ✿ or ⋆.
What breaks
- Search. Titles written only in styled letters may not match plain searches; keep keywords plain.
- Truncation. Wide styles such as vaporwave take more room, so fewer characters show in a grid.
- Boxes. Missing fonts on the viewer’s device show empty squares. Test a pin on a second device. If a pin looks wrong on another phone, the boxes guide explains why.
- Cross-posting. If you copy a pin’s description into a blog or newsletter, styled letters carry over but formatting symbols may not.
A balanced approach is plain keywords for being found, a styled flourish for personality, and real fonts in the image. The character limits guide explains how counters treat styled text.
Plain keywords help people find your pins, so use Pinterest fonts for a short flourish, not for the words you want to rank for.
